竜に変身することのできる竜堂家の四兄弟が、人界や天界の悪と戦うSFファンタジー。原作は『銀河英雄伝説』などで知られる人気作家・田中芳樹の代表作のひとつで、現在までに13巻が刊行されている小説シリーズ。原作第1～4巻のストーリーを、OVA全12話で描いている。監督は出崎統、鹿島典夫、鳥海永行、御厨恭輔で、各々が3話ずつ担当。後にCLAMPや恵広史によるコミック版や、ドラマCDなども発売された。 竜堂家の始・続・終・余は、竜王の子孫にあたる四人兄弟。ある時、四男の余が謎の男たちに襲撃された。そんな折、共和学院の理事である長男の始は、理事長である義叔父から辞表を提出するよう求められる。2つの出来事の裏には、四人兄弟を狙う日本政財界の黒幕“鎌倉の御前”の陰謀があった。。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。范旭川（焦恩俊饰）自小在孤儿院长大，与姐姐美珠(曾亚君饰)相依为命，与儿时玩伴林彩娟 (张庭饰) 感情深厚。旭川偶遇之玲（俞小凡饰），即被之玲的温柔善良所深深吸引，而展开追求行动，但此举动却为之玲同事石康文（林炜饰）看在眼理，心生醋意。之玲眼见之芳的婚姻不幸福，对婚姻产生恐惧，而拒绝旭川，康文二人感情，不料却又遭彩娟和康文二人联手打击，而再次陷入痛苦深渊之中……。
