A British band are ordered by their unhappy record c...。钟理（秦汉饰）爱上了名为钟平妹（林凤娇饰）的女孩，然而客家人规定同姓之人不能成婚，无奈之下，钟理孤身一人前往沈阳学习深造。两年后，钟理回到了钟平妹的身边，带着钟平妹私奔至沈阳，组成了小小的温馨的家庭。 迫于生计，钟理当起了出租车司机，但却因为将逼良为娼的老鸨丢在荒野而丢掉了工作。高涨的民族气节让钟理拒绝了日本人提供的高薪工作，家庭陷入了贫穷和困顿之中，全部的重担都落在了当时已经怀孕的钟平妹身上。之后，两人前往北平，与此同时，钟理完成了他的第一部作品《夹竹桃》，就此踏上了漫漫文学之路。不幸的是，钟理患上了肺病，三番五次入院，治疗花费无数，但钟平妹并没有抱怨丈夫，而是不离不弃的支持着钟理的梦想。。
